Monitoring the ferroelectric phase transition of barium titanate ceramics via impulse excitation

چکیده
Impulse excitation is a suitable tool to determine the temperature dependence of Young’s modulus and monitor ferroelectric phase transition unpoled barium titanate ceramics (tetragonal-to-cubic vice versa). By measurement from room 200–300 °C back, it found that there an elastic anomaly with sharp minimum (at 120 during heating 110 cooling, completely reproducible hysteresis), below above which exhibits values 40–50 GPa up 90 GPa, respectively, damping changes abruptly order 0.01 less than 0.001.

Barium titanate as a ferroelectric and piezoelectric ceramics
Barium titanate is a member of a large family of compounds with the general formula ABO3 called perovskites, as the crystal size of barium titanate increases and at critical crystalline size crystal structure of barium titanate transformed from cubic to tetragonal. Transformation of crystal structure is also take place at Curi temperature. Cubic structure show paramagenatic behavior while tetra...
متن کاملUnfolding grain size effects in barium titanate ferroelectric ceramics
Grain size effects on the physical properties of polycrystalline ferroelectrics have been extensively studied for decades; however there are still major controversies regarding the dependence of the piezoelectric and ferroelectric properties on the grain size. Dense BaTiO3 ceramics with different grain sizes were fabricated by either conventional sintering or spark plasma sintering using micro-...

Mixtures of BaCO3, ZnO and TiO2 powders, with molar ratio of 1:2:4, were mechanically activated for 20, 40 and minutes in a planetary ball mill. The resulting powders were compacted into pellets and isothermally sintered at 1250 °C for 2h with a heating rate of 10 °C/min. X-ray diffraction analysis of obtained powders and sintered samples was performed in order to investigate changes of the pha...
متن کاملFerroelectric Lead Zirconate Titanate and Barium Titanate Nanotubes
Wetting of the pore walls of porous templates is a simple and convenient method to prepare nanotubes. Ferroelectric lead zirconate titanate and barium titanate nanotubes were fabricated by wetting of porous silicon templates of polymeric precursors. The ferroand piezoelectric properties of an individual ferroelectric either of a PZT or a BaTiO3 nanotube were electrically characterized by measur...
متن کاملThe ferroelastic phase transition and non-180° domain switching in La-modified lead zirconate titanate ferroelectric ceramics.
The ferroelastic phase transition and shape memory effect in La-modified lead zirconate titanate ferroelectric ceramics are demonstrated directly through the temperature-dependent macroscopic recoverable strain measured in a three-point bending configuration. X-ray diffraction measurements reveal that non- 180° domain switching occurs in the mechanically poled sample in two different ways at th...
